Description
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation
of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the
cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage,
networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have
continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging
problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re
looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply
chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.
You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest
standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at
the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive
culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Network Decommissioning Manager to join
our rapidly growing network and Cable Decommissioning team (NCD). As a manager
in this team, you will work directly with engineers and managers across the
company to support and scale removal of Networking gear from data centers in the
Northern Virginia region. You will also work with existing local and global
teams to develop innovative solutions to decommission networks and manage the
implementation of solutions. This is an opportunity to leverage and grow your
existing engineering and leadership experience in an innovative and highly
collaborative environment where the results of your work will directly impact
AWS and its customers.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop a team of Network Decommissioning techs
- Ensure non-impactful and timely removal of existing network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define plans and process to achieve
required capacity and network requirements via decommissioning efforts.
- Partner with peer leaders within the NCD organization to create and perpetuate
a true lifecyle approach to standardizing and maintaining internal cabling
throughout the data center environments.
- Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues; leading
high-profile/visibility projects, as required, to enable new capacity and
services.
- Support new automation introduction activities that, reduce cost and
decommissioning time; obsessing over reducing risk and legacy constraints
inherent in existing facilities.
- Travel 20% or more to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and
contractors at AWS data centers
